Educational Activities

Public lectures, poetry readings and seminars by professionals are presented as part of the educational program of the Del Mar Art Center. Technical demonstrations by visiting professional artists are offered as well at the Del Mar Art Center. Future activities will include performance art and children’s programs.

Background

On July 5, 2000, Del Mar celebrated the opening of the long envisioned coalition of artists known as the Del Mar Art Center. A non-profit volunteer and membership organization, its primary objectives are to foster awareness and understanding of fine arts in the general public and to encourage the appreciation of visual arts and artists. The Del Mar Art Center hopes to share the excitement of the visual arts and encourage young artists to interact with experienced artists. To help achieve these objectives, there will be ongoing and ever changing exhibits and presentations by individual as well as groups of artists.

As a non-profit arts organization rather than a commercial gallery, the Del mar Art Center is one of the few venues where Southern California artists, both emerging and established, can exhibit regularly through the jurying process, and can receive exposure in one of the North County’s most frequented galleries.
