The Del Mar Art Center Gallery has been promoting local
fine artists and their work since July 13, 2000. The Gallery
is interested in discovering new talent; toward this end,
the Gallery reviews original works of art in all mediums
the last day of designated months, called Preview days.
To be considered for membership, all current members and
prospective new members bring in at least 3 original works
of art to the Center at 10 am on Preview day (see note below).
No artwork will be accepted after 11 am. All paintings,
pastels, oils, etc., are to be framed and ready to hang.
Giclée prints will be accepted if they are numbered.
Artists should return between 1 pm and 3 pm to pick up works
not accepted, and to retrieve previously hung artwork.
Accepted artists must sign a contract and consignment sheet,
and must agree to sit in the gallery for 8 hours per month.
The gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday 11 am to
7 pm and Sunday 11 am to 5 pm (closed Monday and Tuesday).
If an artist is unable to fulfill their allotted time they
are required to pay $30 per shift. If an artist fails to
meet these requirements, their work will be removed from
the exhibition. All artists, exhibiting or not, are required
to meet these requirements.
There is a limit to the number and size of works an artist
may exhibit, due to our limited space. The maximum size
is 36 X 48”, including frame. On works behind glass
the maximum size is 16” X 20”. The maximum price
of a single work is $2000, excluding sculptures. Two art
bins are available for shrink-wrapped prints or copies.
Artwork placed in the bins cannot exceed the price of $200.
We reserve the right to withhold acceptance of inappropriate
artwork.
Membership dues are 150.00 annually non-refundable. There
is a 10.00-hanging fee per piece for artwork that has been
accepted for each show rotation.
